Te Hikutanga
At Te Hiku Hauora, Te Hikutanga is the korowai aroha, that spreads it cloak across the entire workforce and service delivery - symbolically embracing our people in the values of manaakitanga, aroha and whakapapa.
Like the traditional korowai, it carries the strength of our tūpuna and the unity of our whānau, ensuring we remain grounded, responsive and connected to the needs and aspirations of the communities we serve.
Te Hikutanga draws on the collective wisdom and heritage of kaumātua, kuia and the rich whakapapa and mātauranga Māori ways of knowing, being and doing in the Far North, sustained by the five Iwi of Ngāti Kuri, Te Aupōuri, Ngāi Takoto, Ngāti Kahu and Te Rarawa of Te Hiku o te Ika, whose voices continue to shape a distinct Te Hiku o te Ika worldview of health and wellbeing through the reo of our tūpuna, whakapapa, tikanga and pūrākau of our unique location, ensuring hauora is nurtured not only clinically, through cultural, spiritual and generational knowledge.
These foundations strengthen resilience, unity and whānau wellbeing.
Mā te Hiku o te Ika - Mō te Hiku o te Ika.
