Fostering Rangatahi Māori Success

Te Hiku Hauora Foundation Grant

Te Hiku Hauora Foundation Grant is an investment in the health and education of our future generations of Muriwhenua Māori Health Workforces. This grant of $500.00 has been created to provide financial assistance for Rangatahi Māori residing in Muriwhenua who have enrolled part time or fulltime in a health profession course of study. The one off fund can be used to assist Rangatahi Māori with purchasing items they need to prepare for study or for living costs.

 

Who is eligible?
This grant is open to Rangatahi Māori from 17 to 25 years of age who are descendants to Iwi o Muriwhenua (e.g. Ngāti Kuri, Te Aupouri, Ngai Takoto, Ngāti Kahu and Te Rarawa). The applicant will be a resident in the Muriwhenua region and has enrolled to study in a health profession.

 

How to Apply
Applicants will complete the online application and will provide documentation that provides proof of enrolment and a support letter from kuia or kaumatua about their Iwi connections.

Te Hiku Hauora Undergraduate Scholarship

Te Hiku Hauora Undergraduate Scholarship has been revised for Māori descendants to Iwi o
Muriwhenua who are working toward a career and a Bachelor Degree in healthcare that allows them
to work in health care services. Te Hiku Hauora Undergraduate Scholarship prioritises fields of study
and courses in Nursing, Dental – Oral Health, Medicine, Allied Health Professions and Hauora Māori.

 

Te Hiku Hauora Undergraduate Scholarship will provide:
Up to $10,000.00 for eligible academic expenses

 

Who is eligible?
Te Hiku Hauora Undergraduate Scholarship is open to Māori descendants to Iwi o Muriwhenua ( e.g.
Ngāti Kuri, Te Aupouri, Ngai Takoto, Ngāti Kahu and Te Rarawa). Ideally the applicant is resident or
has resided in the Muriwhenua region and currently studying or about to embark on study in a health profession.

 

Applicants must also be able to:

  • Demonstrate their commitment to improving health equity and building a responsive health service for Māori

  • Show their commitment to, and involvement in, Te Ao Māori

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an appropriately accredited program in Aotearoa, and pursuing a course of study in a health profession.


Eligible programs for the current funding cycle include:


Bachelor degree programs:

  • Nursing

  • Dental or Oral Health

  • Medicine

  • Allied Health Professions

  • Hauora Māori

The award will cover tuition, required fees, and other educational and living expenses.
