Hāpaitia Ngā Mokopuna: For the love of our mokopuna, for the future of Muriwhenua
In a united collaboration, Te Hiku Hauora joined forces with Whatu Ora, The Northern DHB, ANT Trust, Moko Foundation, and other dedicated organisations to celebrate the future of Muriwhenua's mokopuna. The event, named Hāpaitia Ngā Mokopuna, was a day filled with joy, unity, and community spirit, all aimed at uplifting the spirits of our young ones and educating whānau about immunisations.
Held to provide a fun and supportive environment, the event featured a bouncy castle, free kai, and hamper packs for māmā. Whānau had the opportunity to speak openly and connect with various services. The day was not only about fun but also about providing a safe space for whānau to discuss their fears and options around immunisations.
The highlight of the event was the launch of our new immunisation van and kaupapa. This initiative aims to offer a safe and supportive environment for whānau to discuss immunisation, addressing any fears and providing education. As Mereana Pou poignantly stated, "Pākehā diseases require Pākehā medicines." This sentiment was echoed throughout the event, but what we found was that many whānau are not scared of immunisations and see them as a safe and valuable option for protecting their tamariki. There are many Māori doctors and experts who promote immunisations for tamariki, which protect our mokopuna and, therefore, the future of our region.
The event was a testament to the community's dedication to the wellbeing of our mokopuna. With bouncy castles, activities, games, prizes, and free packs, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and positivity. The presence of various stakeholders and experts, all contributing their knowledge and support, made the event a resounding success.
The launch of the Hāpaitia Ngā Mokopuna identity marks a significant step forward in our efforts to ensure the health and wellbeing of our future generations. This identity embodies the spirit of doing everything we can to protect and uplift our mokopuna and whānau.
This event is just the beginning of many more kaupapa to come, as we continue to work together for the love of our mokopuna and the future of Muriwhenua. The collaboration between these organisations demonstrates the power of unity and the shared commitment to fostering a brighter future for our young ones.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa who participated and contributed to the success of this event. Your dedication and support are what made this day truly special.
Stay tuned for more updates on future events and kaupapa aimed at uplifting and protecting our mokopuna.
