Te Hiku Hauora Mobile Nursing Led Summer safety clinic’s spring up in some of the most remote yet tourist popular geographical locations in our community – a grassy knoll at the Department of Conservation camp ground at Matai Bay,
Whatuwhiwhi is one such location. Located beside the public carpark and next to both beach accesses, facing the beach, the team set up their table and offered free blood pressure checks along with information sheets on hydration, sunblock cover, recognizing rips, how to survive a rip and free water and ice blocks to camp ground dwellers and visitors to the beach.
They received some great feedback “keep up the awesome work”, “wow this is a great service” and “we need this is our hometown”.
Over a 3 hour period, 103 people visited the summer clinic.
