Te Hiku Hauora Health Promotion Team has their annual Blue Warrior Trail Event at Lake Gem (the south end of Lake Ngatu) on Sunday 18th March 9.30am.
This event is about participation not competition. Participation and fun as a whanau, Iwi and community. No matter what your age and what capability and setting your own goal.
The trail length will be up to the participant to decide, with check points at every kilometre mark.
Blue is the colour of the day, so get dressed up & maybe win a spot prize for your fancy blue look whether that’s walking, running, or pushing a pram, participants will go between 2 kilometres or 8 depending on how they are feeling. Te Hiku Hauora Health Promotion team want this event to be accessible to our local community which is why it is FREE.
There is no registration fee and if you are participating on the day you may just win one of our many spot prizes that have been kindly donated by our local businesses and we appreciate their continuous support for this event every year.
The benefits of physical activity are not only for physical well being but mental health too. By engaging in regular activity reduces the risk for heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, obesity and type 2 diabetes. Regular physical activity is also known to improve sleep patterns, relieve stress and anxiety. Nau mai haere mai, by encouraging whanau to get out and active at the Blue Warrior Trail it can help be the start of ongoing regular physical activity in their daily lives.
