Scholarships

Te Hiku Hauora award two educational scholarships and one sports scholarship per year to successful applicants.

The Muriwai Popata Scholarship award is intended to provide one-year support to students in medical school or university with a General Practice focus and proven academic evidence.

Value
The value of the Muriwai Popata Scholarship will normally be $10,000 per annum. 
Activation of the award shall take place only upon proof of enrolment.
Te Hauora O Te Hiku O Te Ika Trust (the Trust) will be responsible for the administration of the scholarship.

Criteria
Applicants must have affiliation to Iwi in Te Hiku Rohe
Evidential whakapapa to Iwi of Te Hiku
Maori, and knowledge in Te Reo me ona tikanga
At least 3 years university/medical school study.
You are required to work for 12 months with Te Hauora O Te Hiku O Te Ika Trust within 10 years of completion of your medical degree. Failure to complete this requirement will mean that the full value of this scholarship is to be repaid to Te Hauora O Te Hiku O Te Ika Trust. This requirement means that for every year that the scholarship is received you are required to work for 12 months with Te Hauora O Te Hiku O Te Ika Trust, e.g.; Scholarship received for 2 years, commitment required 24 months.

The Zarella (Tere) Gravenor Scholarship award is intended to provide one-year support to students enrolled in Dentistry (the BDS degree) at Otago University in New Zealand

Value
The total value of this Dentistry Scholarship available will be $10,000. 
Te Hauora O Te Hiku O Te Ika Trust (the Trust) will be responsible for the administration of the scholarship.
Activation of the award shall take place only upon proof of enrolment

Criteria
Applicants must have affiliation to Iwi in Te Hiku O Te Ika Rohe
Evidential whakapapa to Iwi of Te Hiku
Maori, and knowledge in Te Reo me ona tikanga
Applicants must be full time students enrolled in Dentistry (the BDS degree)
You are required to work for 12 months with Te Hauora O Te Hiku O Te Ika Trust within 10 years of completion of your dentistry degree. Failure to complete this requirement will mean that the full value of this scholarship is to be repaid to Te Hauora O Te Hiku O Te Ika Trust. The Hauora Sport Scholarship award is intended to support an individual successful in achieving high standard of sportsmanship with proven evidence. 

Value
The value of this Sport Award, will normally be $1,000.00 per annum
To be paid to the successful applicant’s bank or organisation/trust nominated.
Activation of the award shall take place only upon proof of performance

Criteria
Applicants must have affiliation to Iwi in Te Hiku Rohe
Evidential whakapapa to Iwi of Te Hiku
Maori, and knowledge in Te Reo me ona tikanga
Non participant in alcohol and smoking
When appropriate be available for promotional activities.
